| 30.04 - Benchmark Video |
TNT2 ULTRA in action. IŽve captured a benchmark run of Incoming at 1024x768 with 16 Bit color depth. You can download it as MPG file: Incoming
1024x768-16Bit large (256x192 - 2,7MB) Die TNT2 ULTRA scored about 102fps in this run. You can see the top values jump between 90 and 110 fps. The benches were made on a PII 450MHz. |
| 29.04 - TNT2 ULTRA Real-Life Benchmarks |
How fast is the NVIDIA TNT2 ULTRA in Real-Life benchmarks? The difference to the ASUS V3800 running on Detonator v1.20 drivers to the TNT was not very large. But now itŽs very impressive. The TNT2 ULTRA is almost double fast than the TNT. Check out the results here: NVIDIA TNT2 ULTRA vs. TNT |
| 29.04 - New TNT2 results |
| ThereŽs a lot discussion
about the performance of TNT2 Beta cards reviewed in the web. I want to give new fire to
these discussions. I got a NVIDIA TNT2 ULTRA reference card (150/183)
today. In the follwoing 3DMark99 MAX results with this card. You can
compare the results with the STB Velocity 4400 and the ASUS V3800 (TNT2) BETA
card, both running with Detonator v1.20. Besides of the higher end results you can see a
three times higher Fill Rate and a double Rasterizer Score compared with TNT.
IŽll update the results of the Real-Life Benchmarks made in the V3800 preview soon! |
| 29.04 - Rivazone reviews TNT2 |
| Rivazone posted the first part of the announced TNT2 review. They use a 'Monster' (!?) clocked with 175/200 MHz, a Leadtech Winfast 3D S320 II with 150/175 and a NVIDIA reference card running at 125/150. You can see a couple of Quake2 Benchmarks. Rivazone TNT2 review |
| 29.04 - Deathmatch on one PC |
Sharedware announced a new concept at E3. Mutliplayer with only one PC. This is made possible by a special version of a S3 Savage graphics card with sound onboard. You need to plug a second monitor, mouse and keyboard on your PC. In combination with the Shareware software two people can use the PC independently for office or games. Both users have 3D graphics and Sound. You can see this technology in action at E3. |
| 29.04 - S3TC |
| S3 announced that S3 Texture compression is supported by over 50 software developers and publishers. S3 states that weŽll see over 20 titels with S3TC support at christmas 1999. Titles to support S3TC are Unreal Tournament that is awaited for this summer, Quake3, Halflife: Day One, Babylon 5 and many others. TNT owners can be happy that there will be titles with High-Res textures available soon (TNT supports textures with up to 2048x2048). |
| 28.04 - Kingpin Screenshots |
| Viper 3D made a couple of high resolution Kingpin screenshots with a Diamond Viper V550 TNT card. |
| 28.04 - Anandtech reviews TNT2 |
| AnandTech hreviewed the Leadtech
Winfast 3D S320 II with 16MB and compares it with Voodoo3 & Co. The SDRAM card is
clocked at 150/170 MHz: Is the TNT2 the choice for you? If you happen to have a slower CPU, anything slower than a Pentium II 350 or a Celeron 366, the Voodoo3 will probably offer you greater performance for a similar price. However, a couple months down the road when you want to play a game of Quake 3, don't complain about the quality of the textures. The Voodoo3 and TNT2 both perform at a level where there is not a huge difference of performance between the two, although in some cases it is definitely noticeable. The best overall solution out of the two seems to be the TNT2, whose combination of superior image quality and above average performance do make it a powerful successor to the original TNT. Owners of first generation Pentium II's (233/266) will probably want to stick to 3dfx in this case, as the Voodoo3 is a much better choice for slower CPUs, in spite of the difference in image quality. Another factor that must be taken into consideration is that the board AnandTech tested was only a 16MB TNT2 board, so the overall performance of the TNT2, especially at higher resolutions and color depths, should be at least a little greater than the 16MB board AnandTech previewed here. If you take that into consideration, the gap between the Voodoo3 3000 and the TNT2 clocked at 150MHz borders on non-existant. You can find the whole article here. |
| 27.04 - Update ASUS V3800 Preview |
Update of the real-life benchmarks of the ASUS V3800TVR preview. IŽve overclocked 'the beast' to 150/183MHz. The card ran stable and without faults. You can get an impression of the power of the TNT2 Ultra version of the card. But these Ultra cards will have 5ns or 5,5ns RAM. The memory used on this card is 7ns and has higher timings (RAS/CAS). So weŽll see that an Ultra is faster than this..... apart from higher values through overclocking the Ultra. You can see the results here: Update Real-Life benchmarks |
| 27.04 - ELSA Erazor III Preview |
| FullOn3D took a look on the new ELSA Erazor III. The card was a beta Version: ELSA Erazor III preview ati FullOn3D |
| 27.04 - Update zu Metabytes PGP |
| Sharkyextreme got new information
about Metabytes PGP Technology: From what Sharky Extreme's sources have learned, system integrator Alienware will be the first and only company who produces a PGP configuration with two video cards in tandem, based on the Metabyte driver technology. Alienware is no stranger to high performance, they've consistently offered some of the industry's fastest gaming rigs, complete with only the highest quality parts and peripherals available. It's not a surprise then to find that Alienware, who had been a strategic partner of Metabyte's the past year anyway, were interested in the PGP technology suite, specifically in an exclusive variant of the driverset for their own PCs. Read on here. |

| 23.04 - Preview: ASUS AGP-V3800TVR |
|
First impressions and benchmarks of the ASUS AGP-V3800 TVR with NVIDIA TNT2. I compare the results of the TNT2 card that runs with 125/150Mhz with a STB Velocity 4400. Both cards run with the Detonator drivers v1.20 on a 450MHz PII system: ASUS AGP-V3800TVR Preview |
| 23.04 - ASUS AGP-V3800TVR preview |
| I have the german language
version of the ASUS AGP-V3800 preview online. I made a couple of benchmarks with NVIDIA
Detonator drivers v1.20. You can compare the results with a STB Velocity 4400 TNT card,
running with the same drivers. The V3800 card is clocked with 125/150MHz..... translation
will (really) come very soon! If you want to check the benches: ASUS AGP-V3800TVR preview |
| 23.04 - New ASUS V3400 drivers |
As promised
(why does nobody believe what I say? <g>), ASUS released new drives for the
AGP-V3400TNT. These drivers are new Win9X drivers v2.16 based on Detonator
v1.25, new Windows NT4 drivers (Detonator v1.15), a new Tweak tool v2.0 and a new
Version of the videotools ASUS Live v3.00. You can download them here: ASUS AGP-V3400 drivers Important: The old drivers, the old tweak tool and the Live Software should be deinstalled before you install the new drivers. If this does not work, you should install Standard PCI Graphics Adapter 'by hand' before you install the new drivers. The old Tweak tool and Live3400 software does work with the new drivers! |
| 22.04 - ASUS AGP-V3800 |
The first TNT2 card arrived at RIVA Station
today: The ASUS AGP-V3800 TVR - AGP-V3800 (TNT2, pure VGA, 32
or 16 MB) ASUS does also plan to release a NVIDIA VANTA based card. Stay tuned for more! |
