3-day LAN-Party...with 700 people Haua.... thatīll hurt :-)

    30.07 - Erazor III
Planetriva reviewed the ELSA Erazor III with 3D Revelator:

Their advertising campaign which shows a generation-X type dude jumping through mid-air while holding a giant ERAZOR III over his head, proudly proclaims that it is "ABOVE ALL"; and goes on to read "Is it fast? Heh...heh...heh....". But does that laughter indicate a confident and affirmative reply to the question? Or could it mean that you may get chumped, and end up with a slow poke on your hands?

You can find the review here.

    30.07 - Q3 Tweak Guide
Viper3D made a large Q3Test Tweak-Guide: Quake3 Tweak Guide
    30.07 - More about the K7 benchmarks
I was in contact with James Monroe (Raven Software). As I expected there were older Voodoo3 drivers used for those benchmarks:

Yes indeed i had older drivers(4.11.01.0443-1.01). The new drivers (4.11.01.1151) are *significantly* faster!

    29.07 - K7 Benchmarks
James Monroe, Lead programmer at Raven (Star Trek Voyager) made an update to his plan file. He posts some benchmark results of Q3Test using a AMD K7 Athlon:

I am testing it out on a wonderful new K7-600 AMD was kind enough to send us. Man this thing rocks! I'll get some meaningful timings if anyone cares. But i assure you it flies!

q3test 1.07, on the k7-600, voodoo3 3K agp graphics mode normal: (640 x 480)
q3testdemo1 1653 frames, 33.5 seconds: 49.3 fps

q3testdemo2 1528 frames, 23.9 seconds: 63.9 fps

graphics mode fast:
q3testdemo1 1653 frames, 26.8 seconds: 61.8 fps

q3testdemo2 1528 frames, 21.0 seconds: 72.7 fps

ThanX to Bluesnews

Comment: It rocks?..... hmmm. Here some results of my Pentium III 500@525Mhz

Q3Test v1.07

Voodoo3 3000
v1.02.11

TNT2 Ultra
v2.08 Ref

Raven K7
Fast Demo1 74,7 69,9 61,8
Fast Demo2 80,5 72,0 72,7
Normal Demo1 63,6 66,2 49,3
Normal Demo2 74,0 69,9 63,9

The K7 has an advantage of 75MHz but the results are a lot lower than the Pentium III results. But be carefull: It seems that the latest Voodoo3 driver pushed the Q3Test scores a lot higher! I donīt know which drivers were used by James Monroe!

    29.07 - Victory Erazor drivers
Back to the roots: ELSA released a new Win9X driver for the Victory Erazor with RIVA 128:

    28.07 - Revelator rumors
There are rumors that ELSA plans to support the 3D Shutter Glasses ELSA 3D Revelator for some non-ELSA cards. This would mean a big kick for the Shutter Glasses Technology. Currently only ASUS, ELSA and Wicked3D offer payable shutter glasses solutions for gamers.
    28.07 - Q3 Benchmarks
Tweak3D made a couple of benchmarks in Q3Test using a Celeron 300A@450 with a STB Velocity TNT card: Q3 Benchmarks

Creative released version v1.16 Beta of its unified driver. The Unified driver lets you play Glide games on Creative (only) TNT and TNT2 cards. You need the cardīs serial number for download.

Version 1.16 beta is now available. This version includes texture loading optimizations which should increase speed in a number of games, as well as chroma key fixes. Thank you for your interest and participation in the Unified beta test process.

    27.07 - V3 vs. TNT2 in Q3Test
The Meter meter made a comparsion of graphic cards in Q3Test. They used a Voodoo3 3000 against different TNT2 Ultras, an ATi Rage Fury and a Savage4. The fastest cards were the TNT2 Uīs followed by the V3. Itīs interresting that the TNT2 is even faster in 32Bit than the V3 in 16Bit.... the results can can be found here.
    27.07 - Even more eggs
The website Crus made another preview about the NVIDIA NV10. Nothing new there. Only the state that Guillemot will show a card based on NV10 at ETCS.
    27.07 - Rumors
Will we see a reworked TNT2 soon? There are rumors about a TNT2-A/Ultra or also called TNT2/Pro (although M64 allready owns this name). The TNT2-A is made in a new TSMC Fab and can run at higher clockspeeds.

    26.07 - raw eggs
There are some 'Previews' about NVIDIAīs in the web. I think itīs a bit fishy because itīs only speculation based on some rumors. But if you want to take a look...: Gamespot - RIVA 3D - Speedy3D

BTW rumors: There are some very wild rumors that NVIDIA will announce a reworked higher clocked version of the TNT2 (possible through better fab. output). But donīt ask me if itīs serious....

    26.07 - Kingpin public Beta
Xatrix made betasversions and fixes for Kingpin Public:

It appears there was a major crash in the Kingpin patch client, which only seems to occur with the particular binaries that were released. I believe this may be the unfortunate occurance of a MSVC 6.0 bug, which causes some builds to screw up. At any rate, the onus falls on me, for not having that particular build tested before release.

As a result of this, I have decided to open up the Kingpin beta testing to the public. With most of us on holidays (yes, that includes me) at the moment, I'm thinking the best thing to do, is to make what would usually be internal builds, available to anyone willing to help the testing process. Then, once these builds reach a state where things are running smoothly, I'll release that build as the official patch.

This way those that are experiencing major problems with the commercial release, can get access to builds that may fix their problems, or at least they can help me get their problem fixed sooner, rather than later.

You can find that stuff here. - ThanX to Voodooextreme
