25.02.98 -New Features

There will be new drivers for the ERAZOR available.
ELSA speaks of the following things:

* much faster D3D drivers including OpenGL from April on
* Videotext finals from CeBit on
* Full-Screen live video from CeBit on
* Online-compression with video capturing from CeBit on

25.02.98 -Riva128 ZX

ELSA will also present a card with the RIVA128ZX. Apart from Memory there will not be
massive changes to the current model.
Despite of big screams in the Web you won´t find RIVA128ZX cards until June..

21.02.98 -Patches

- New D3D patch for Ubisoft´s F1 RACING SIMULATOR. Download at

- The patch for DID´s F22 ADF is still not available. DID sayys that it will not be available until

18.02.98 -New ERAZOR drivers - BETA

There´s a new a new Win95-BETA driver for the ERAZOR available. It also contains a new BIOS version (1.54.03). Download it here: http://www.elsa.de/DOWNLOAD/FILES/GRAPHICS/BETA/VERAW95B.ZIP
It has nothing to do with Nvidia´s beta drivers. It´s a new version of the current ELSA driver.
A first test with Final Reality and some D3D games made no problems but the driver is a beta,
so there may be still some bugs in there drivers.

The new Bios is a regular version but you should use it with the new drivers.
(Nvidia´s OpenGL Beta drivers do work without problems with the new Bios)
Unzip the file with subdirectories. The file VCERAZOR.BIN has to be in the IMAGES folder.
You start the update with the file FLASH_R.EXE. You have to start your system in DOS mode
with pressing F8 when Windows starts. The update doesn´t work in Win95 Dos-box !
After starting the flash-software you only have to choose the language. The rest works automatic.
The old Bios version is saved in "c:\old_0000.bin". You should store it in a secure place to be able to restore it.
There are no instructions from ELSA for the new Bios version. If you are not sure how to do it you should wait a few days till more information is available.
The TV-output looks better with the new BIOS Version but the B/W problem some people have can´t get solved with it.

13.02.98 -New startlogos for Windows95

New startlogo´s for download. This time for other Riva cards than Erazor.

11.02.98 - Gamma tool for GL-Beta driver

At http://tiger.tnstate.edu:8080/rglgamma.zip you can get a gamma utility. That fixes the problem
with the dark image while using OpenGL games.
The util does only work with Nvidia´s OpenGL Beta drivers. Don´t use it with the ELSA drivers.

08.02.98 - About the GL-Beta driver

Some guys addressed me with questions about the Gl-Beta´s I give you some facts:
- It´s a BETA version from Nvidia. That means no support and partly buggy.
- Video functions are no more available.
- ELSA Winnerware is no longer active.
- If you don´t use Open-GL games like Quake 1/2 or Hexen II you should´nt install the Beta´s
- If you don´t know how to install drivers in Win95 you should wait until the final drivers are
released or ELSA presents a new driver version.

05.02.98 - OpenGL BETA

The OpenGl Beta drivers from Nvidia are out. Using Quake1 timedemo demo2 I get 35,2fps
at a resolution of 640x480. The Alpha2 did only 20,4 !

But be carefull: These drivers are a BETA Version of Nvidia with no support. Video IN functions of your card do no longer work ! More info´s at RIVAZONE

02.02.98 - ELSA works on software encoding

ELSA told me in an e-mail that they are working on a software encoding for Video. This will reduce the amount of data considerable and makes it possible to use higher resolutions for video capturing.
