Unused driversetting
- Overclocking the TNT with Registry
The current ASUS drivers v1.01 own a driversetting that
allows you to overclock the card. A special software like Powerstrip is no longer needed
for overclocking here.
This setting increses the chipclock from 90MHz to 95MHz and
the Memory clock ist growing from 110MHz to 120MHz.
To enable this setting you have to open the file ASUS3400.INF
using a texteditor. You find that file in the directory where you stored your ASUS
drivers.
Search for the line ;HKR,DEFAULT,turbo,0,"6"
(simply search for the word turbo) and delete the semicolon (;) in the beginning of the
row.
This setting make a registry entry called turbo
with the value "6" in the directory
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\DEFAULT
After a new installation of these drivers your card will run
with the higher settings. To restore the original settings simply insert the semicolon
again and reinstall the drivers. Then you need a complete restart to reset the cardīs
clockspeed.
Note: Overclocking can cause damage to your card because of
overheating! Althought the card has a strong cooling fan you should ensure that your
system case cooling works. Use this hints oon your own risk!
