Review: Hercules 3D Prophet II PRO (4/7) To find out where the 3D Prophet II PRO fits into the NVIDIA hierarchy, we pitted it against its siblings, the 3D Prophet II and the 3D Prophet II 64. All three boards used Hercules' driver revision 5.32. A GeForce2 Ultra using reference driver v6.31 is also included as a high-end reference part. DRAKAN - DirectX 6
As usual, Drakan yields only marginally differing results, since the CPU largely determines the outcome. Only when we reach the high resolutions in 32bit color do we see the field drift apart. In 1600x1200 we can rank the cards by memory speed: 333MHz, 366MHz, 400MHz, and 460 MHz... Evolva - DirectX 7
The differences between the Hercules boards are quite small. Again, we only start to see a difference between the GTS 64 and the PRO under 32bit color. Still, to say the PRO beats the GTS 64 would be a bit of an overstatement, as they are quite close together. Meanwhile, the Ultra is able to pull ahead of the rest. |
