Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 64MB - KYRO II (12/15)

3D Mark 2000 (DirectX 7 + T&L)

Pentium 4 1500MHz

For a long time, 3DMark2000 was considered the showcase benchmark for T&L cards. In 800x600-16 this still seems to be the case. After that, the Prophet 4500 already passes the RADEON, which is struggling to keep the MX at bay. In 32Bit the Kyro II is finally able to show the collective competition what it’s made of, soundly holding on to its first place starting with 1024x768-32. In the table below you can find the detailed results:

16 Bit Farbtiefe

Of note is the Kyro II’s surprisingly good bump mapping performance as well as its bad polygon count / lights performance. The CPU speed score is also astonishingly low.

32 Bit Farbtiefe

In 32Bit color we once again see the Kyro II strut its stuff, especially in the Game benchmarks. The surprise this time around is the low score for the environmental bump mapping test. While the Kyro II was able to beat the RADEON in 16Bit, its performance seems to take a major hit when we make the change to 32Bit. A possible explanation for this might be the use of 32Bit textures in this test. It can’t really be a result of the increased color depth, since the Kyro II always renders in 32Bit internally anyway.
