NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX - The new mainstream card (4/9)

Test setup:

All tests were run on an INTEL PIII 800E system using a Tekram P6BX-A BX board (bios 1.07) with 192MB PC-100 RAM. Each card was tested with a "fresh" install of Windows 98 SE, courtesy of Norton Ghost.

The Antec PP303X 300W powersupply took care of the systems´s power needs:

Tested cards:

  • NVIDIA GeForce2 MX referencecard (175/166MHz SDRAM) - NVIDIA Detonator 2 v5.30
  • ASUS V6800 Deluxe (120/300MHz DDR) - NVIDIA Detonator 2 v5.30
  • ELSA Erazor X (120/166MHz SDRAM) - NVIDIA Detonator 2 v5.30
  • Matrox G400 MAX Dual Head (150/200MHz SDRAM) - BETA 6.00.010
  • ATi Rage Fury MAXX (125/166MHz SDRAM) - A6.40CD06

Since NVIDIA is recommending the use of the v5.30 Detonator2 drivers for the MX, I used these for all NVIDIA based cards during testing.   The drivers for the Matrox and ATi cards are the newest versions available on the net.

All drivers used default settings with V-Sync disabled. For the Detonator2 drivers, FSAA was disabled in D3D.
