NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX - The new mainstream card (7/9)

Benchmarks:

DRAKAN

Drakan is a very cpu-intensive D3D game that makes little use of multitexturing, if at all. Also, it only uses bilinear filtering.

Again the MX comes in behind the GF256SDRAM and even the MAXX. Possible explanation: Cards with more renderpipes seem to have an advantage here. The GeForce can let its 4 renderpipes go to work at full steam, while the MX is at a disadvantage with only two pipes. (When no multitexturing is used, only one pixel per pipe is rendered. GF256 has four pipes=4 pixels per cycle. MX has only two pipes=2 pixels per cycle). Overclocking gives the MX the boost it needs to regain its place ahead of the GF256SDRAM and even the MAXX, though just barely. The DDR remains way ahead of the rest of the pack and needs to fear no competition. As for the G400 MAX, let's just say it's beginning to show its age.
