GeForce2: Duo Deluxe (12/12) Summary From a performance aspect, these cards offer no surprises. The performance is exactly what you would expect from a 32 MB GeForce2 clocked at 200/333MHz no more, definitely no less. The minor deviations we did see are most likely due to the differing driver version used during testing. The benchmarks were run using slightly older drivers than the functionality tests (ViVo), but within the 5.xx family of drivers, the differences are not that tremendous. Besides, the driver situation is constantly in a state of flux, so next week the current drivers may already be old news. Still, both cards would benefit from drivers based on NVIDIAs new Detonator 3 release. The bad support for TV-Out with NVIDIA cards remains an inexplicable phenomenon. ELSA seems to be the only company that currently offers Dual View functionality and other features with its video module for the GLADIAC. Both of these cards are definitely worth recommending. The AOpen PA256 Deluxe is the better pick for the overclocker that uses TV-Out every so often, while the ASUS V7700 is aimed more at the gamer with video editing and 3D ambitions. Suggestion: Some European online stores or mail order companies still have the V6800 Deluxe in stock. Although it has a slightly lower 3D performance than the V7700, it offers the same features and functions at a much lower price. Beware: The bundle will of course still consist of older software. Sorry for the large amount of text... but hell, those card are really "Deluxe" !! Ben did a superb work with this translation. Lars "Borsti" Weinand - August 2000 AOpen PA256 Deluxe
The PA256 Deluxe is a very solid GeForce2 board that has a lot to offer the overclocking community, thanks to its OpenBios. AOpen still has some work to do in the drivers section, though, especially where TV-Out is concerned. The company is planning on introducing a card that will also feature a Video-In, so keep your eyes peeled. For more information on this card, visit the AOpen PA256 Homepage. ASUS V7700 Deluxe
The ASUS V7700 Deluxe really deserves its title. There isnt another video card around this loaded with features and that can also offer this kind of 3D performance. Still, ASUS also has some fine-tuning to do. The TV-Out is still a point of criticism and the drivers are rather complicated. For more information on this card, visit the ASUS V7700 Homepage.
