Test: Leadtek WinFast GeForce 2 PRO (10/14)

3D Mark 2000 (Direct X 7 - HW T&L)

Many people would go to great lengths to be able to show off the highest 3DMark 2000 score to their friends. Several factors besides the video card itself play a great role in this benchmark: the CPU and the system's memory performance. 3dfx's Voodoo 5 is at a disadvantage here due to the lack of a T&L engine, while the GeForce 2 MX suffers from its crippled rendering pipeline and slow memory.

Please excuse the fuzziness of this table, but since not everyone has cable or a dsl line yet, I decided to compress the image (no, this isn't FSAA ;-)). If you'd prefer the real thing, you can download the complete 3DMark 2000 results of all cards here (130KB).

The only surprising here is the relatively bad AGP performance of the NVIDIA based cards with 32MB and 64 MB textures. The V5 scores much higher here, although it only utilizes AGP 1x. The failure of the 32MB cards to complete the 64MB tests can be traced back to the Mainboard, as the i815 chipset only supports a maximum AGP aperture size of 64MB. OK, ASUS says that it should work with a newer Bios version. But donīt want to change my review system at this time... there are a lot more cards on the way and I donīt want to run all benches again! :-)
