GeForce2 MX Shootout (3/11) ELSA Gladiac MX Like the competition, ELSA is basing its drivers on NVIDIAs reference driver releases. There werent any suprises during the testing of this well-produced AGP board well, with the exception of the heatsink. Compared to those of the other boards, ELSAs is almost puny, making the chip run hotter than on the other cards. There are strong similarities bewteen this board and ASUSs version: both share the 175MHz core and 166MHz memory speed, the 6ns 128bit memory this time from Samsung and the relatively useless feature connector. Drivers The ELSA driver offers a very logical menu structure, incorporating all of the important features like settings for overclocking and V-Sync. The settings for the monitor and screen resolution, which can be freely defined, are truly outstanding. Other than that, the driver seems very robust. The performance is good on par with NVIDIAs reference driver v5.30. If you ever want to uninstall the drivers, youll have to uninstall the display tools "Winman Suite", the driver, and the so-called "ELSA Information Center" seperately. The latter stubbornly refused to disappear from my system completely. Software ELSA is also shipping a DVD player as part of their software bundle. Called ELSA Movie, it is based on the Cinemaster player. If youre looking for bundled games, youll have to enter ELSAs "Best Select" program. This allows you to take your pick from a predefined list of games. Make no mistake, however although these games will be at a reduced price, youll still have to pay extra for them. Rating
