GeForce2 MX Shootout (4/11) Hercules 3D Prophet II MX As has become customary for the 3D Prophet II line of cards, the MX version is based on a blue PCB. Although this has no effect on the card other than adding a certain aesthetic value, it does prove that Hercules is trying to be different. Honestly, I would have preferred the inclusion of a fan, though. What sets this card apart from the rest is its memory, which has a faster acces time and can consequently be clocked at higher a speed: 183MHz instead of 166MHz. The chip itself runs at the same speed as those of the competition, meaning 175MHz. As seems to be standard for this class of cards, the chip is passively cooled. To make the higher memory speed possible, Hercules uses 32MB of 5,5ns 128bit SDRAM Hyundai memory. The options for Direct 3D and OpenGL settings are complete, but if youre looking for comfort, I recommend shareware tools like Powerstrip... Software In the box, youll find only the driver CD. Besides drivers, it also holds a number of game demos. Unfortunately, there no full versions of any games, nor is there a software DVD player. Rating
