First Test: ATI RADEON R7500 (2/14) |
The TV-Out is also a strong point of the 7500, offering a screen-filling picture without a black border. It appears my testsample still had a few quirks to it. Theoretically, in dual display mode the resolution and refresh rates should be adjustable independently for each screen (as is the case with the VE). Strangely, the driver would reset my monitor to 50Hz whenever TV-Out was active. The resoultions couldnt be selected independently. Nonetheless ATi assured me that the 7500 is indeed capable of delivering different resolutions and refreshrates to the TV and the monitor. Since my time with this sample was very limited, I wasnt able to get to the bottom of this phenomenon. An upcoming full review of a retail card will bring clarification.
From a performance point, ATi is confidently positioning the 7500 somewhere between the GeForce 2 PRO and Ultra but paired with dual display features, TV-Out and a comparatively low price. Of course, only benchmarks will show whether the card performs as promised. If the clockspeed of 290/460MHz is any indication, this will prove interesting indeed! |
