The common opinion is that the Banshee is faster than TNT in SuperSocket 7 systems, because TNT needs CPU (FPU) performance to perform well. This is a still a gap of the AMD K6-2.
The results show that this is partly correct. But that does not mean that the Banshee can outperform the TNT. The results show a head to head run.

3DMARK99: Here you can see a similar situation as it was on the Pentium II system. The Banshee is faster in Game1 Benchmark and slower in Game2.
In the overall results the TNT is a bit faster. Itīs still interesting that the Banshee is faster in the 'X-MB Texture Rendering Speed' marks.
Using the ASUS Detonator Beta you can see that the results are changed. The TNT outperforms the Banshee with the new drivers.

Tirtanium v1.1: Both cards are head to head. The difference of 0,5 fps is no really difference. It seems that the CPU is the limitating factor here.

Quake: In the Pentium II system you see the Banshee 20fps behind the TNT. In the K6-2 system itīs about 5fps faster! But only in 800x600. At 1024x768 the Banshee drops about 10fps (TNT only 2fps). In this resolution the TNT is 4fps faster.
In Quake2 you can see a contradictory situation. The TNT is slightly faster in the Crusher Demo, which is very charges the CPU a lot. In the massive demo the Banshee is faster at 800x600. You can also see a major drop of the Banshee at 1024x768 here.

I ran some additional benches with the Quake2 3DNow! Patch (ThanX 3dnow.net!). The TNT driver v1.02 does not support 3DNow! yet. So I was a bit surprised to see an increase of the TNT here (3DNow! OpenGL)! I was not able to get the Banshee to work with this patch (3DNow! 3Dfx). Quake2 crashed every time here. The patch readme speaks of Voodoo2 based cards. The Banshee has a Voodoo2 core but it seems that this doesīnt help here. So I canīt show you any Banshee 3DNow! results.
