Quick-Test: NVIDIA v6.49 drivers (9/9)

Conclusion

This time you donīt hear any hypes or recommendations to use v6.49. My advise is: Do not use v6.49! These drivers have a pretty bad OpenGL performance. A GeForce 2 Ultra falls under a v6.31 driven 32MB GTS in the games MDK2 and FAKK2. Also no advantages in FSAA with the new drivers.

I was pretty surprised to see the differences between Quake 3 and FAKK2, because both games use the same 3D Engine. Maybe itīs because FAKK2 uses a lot more lightning effects. But maybe both games simply use different versions of the ID 3D Engine. Ot itīs the benchmark (VGA.DEM) which needs a lot more graphics power.

Whatever it is. You donīt have those problems if you use v6.31. If you allready installed v6.49 you should downgrade to v6.31 again. But those recommendations are only for Windows 98SE. I canīt give you any advises for Windows NT or Windows 2000 (yet)....
